Installation

Download, install, and launch JaiCast on your platform.

System Requirements

Disk Space 100 MB for the application (plus space for your music library)
Audio Any audio output device supported by the operating system
Tip For the best experience, use a dedicated audio interface rather than built-in speakers. A multi-output interface allows you to use separate devices for the Air (broadcast) and Cue (preview) outputs.

macOS

  1. Download the .dmg installer from the JaiCast website.
  2. Open the downloaded .dmg file. A Finder window will appear showing the JaiCast application icon and an Applications folder shortcut.
  3. Drag the JaiCast icon into the Applications folder.
  4. Launch JaiCast from your Applications folder, Launchpad, or Spotlight.

Security Approval

On first launch, macOS may display a security warning because JaiCast is downloaded from the internet rather than the Mac App Store. To proceed:

  1. Open System Settings (or System Preferences on older macOS versions).
  2. Go to Privacy & Security.
  3. Scroll down to the Security section. You will see a message about JaiCast being blocked.
  4. Click Open Anyway.
  5. Confirm the dialog that appears. JaiCast will launch normally from this point forward.
Note This security prompt only appears once. After you approve JaiCast, subsequent launches will proceed without interruption.

Windows

  1. Download the .exe installer from the JaiCast website.
  2. Run the installer. If Windows SmartScreen shows a warning, click More info and then Run anyway.
  3. Follow the setup wizard. The default installation directory is C:\Program Files\JaiCast. You can change this if needed.
  4. Complete the installation. The wizard will offer to launch JaiCast and create a desktop shortcut.

The installer uses NSIS (Nullsoft Scriptable Install System) and handles all necessary runtime dependencies automatically. No additional software needs to be installed.

Uninstalling

To remove JaiCast from Windows:

  1. Open Settings → Apps → Installed Apps.
  2. Find JaiCast in the list.
  3. Click the menu button and select Uninstall.

First Launch

When JaiCast starts for the first time, it creates its data directory and initializes empty databases for your library, settings, and playback history. No additional configuration is required to begin using the application.

The first thing you will want to do is import your music. Head to the Quick Start Guide for step-by-step instructions on importing tracks, setting up AutoDJ, and going live.

Data Location

JaiCast stores its configuration and database files in a platform-specific application data directory:

This directory contains the settings database, library database, cached artwork, and voice track files. Back up this directory to preserve your station configuration.
